Kazoo Charades vs AI · Kazoo Sketch
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Octag AI LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in our two apps: Kazoo Charades vs AI and Kazoo Sketch (each, an "App"). By using an App, you agree to this Policy.
The two apps work differently and handle different information, so this Policy is split up. A section headed with an app name applies only to that app. Everything from How information is shared onwards applies to both.
The apps this Policy covers
- Kazoo Charades vs AI — you act out the word and the AI guesses by watching through your front camera. Available on the App Store and Google Play.
- Kazoo Sketch — you draw on a canvas and Kazoo, an AI mascot, watches the canvas and guesses out loud. No camera, no microphone. Available on iPhone
No account needed — in either app
Both apps work the moment you open them: no login, no email address, no password, no profile. To secure each App's calls to our servers, the App signs in anonymously in the background using Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This creates a random, device-scoped identifier that isn't linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity.
Kazoo Charades vs AI
This section applies only to Kazoo Charades vs AI.
Camera images — and the third-party AI they are sent to
In modes where Kazoo guesses what you're acting out, the App captures still frames from your front-facing camera and sends them — through our own secure proxy — to a third-party AI service: Google's Gemini API, so it can generate guesses in real time.
What is collected, and how. The only thing collected for this purpose is the camera frame itself, captured from the front camera while a camera mode is actively being played. Only the image frame is transmitted — we do not send your name, email address, contacts, photo library, location, or device identifiers to the AI service.
All uses of that data. Frames are used solely to generate the AI's guess during the round. They are processed transiently, are not stored by us, and are never used for advertising, profiling, or to build any identity record.
Third-party protection. Google processes this image data under its paid Gemini API terms, which do not use submitted data to train Google's models and require it to be handled confidentially and deleted after processing. On that basis we confirm that Google provides the same or equal protection for this data as this Policy provides.
Your permission comes first. The App asks for camera permission, and discloses in-app that frames are sent to Google's Gemini AI, before any frame is captured or transmitted. You may decline, and nothing is transmitted if you do.
Voice and speech
With your permission, the App uses your microphone and speech recognition so you can say "yes," "no," or "close" to guide the AI, and so referee mode can hear guesses. Speech is processed on your device — we don't send your audio to our servers or to the AI service, and we don't keep recordings.
Identifiers
If you consent to tracking (see Advertising and tracking below), our advertising partner uses your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant ads and measure them. The App also uses the random, anonymous identifier described above to authenticate requests to our AI service.
Usage and analytics
We and our partners collect limited information about how the App is used — such as which features and screens are used and interactions with ads — to understand performance, improve the App, and support advertising.
Diagnostics
We collect crash logs and performance data (for example, when something fails or runs slowly) to keep the App stable and fix bugs.
Purchases
If you subscribe to Kazoo Pro, Apple processes your payment. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active so we can unlock features, but we don't receive your full payment-card details.
Information stored on your device
Settings such as whether you've finished onboarding and your local high scores are saved on your device and aren't sent to us.
Kazoo Sketch
This section applies only to Kazoo Sketch.
No camera. No microphone.
Kazoo Sketch does not use your camera and does not use your microphone. It never asks for those permissions, and it can't see or hear you or your room. Everything the AI reacts to comes from the drawing canvas inside the app.
No account, no sign-up
There's no email, no password, and no profile. Sign-in is anonymous via Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which creates a random device-scoped ID that isn't linked to a real identity. If you play in an online Room, you choose a display name — pick anything you like; it doesn't have to be your real name.
Your drawings — and the third-party AI they are sent to
When Kazoo guesses, the App takes a snapshot of your drawing canvas — not a photograph, not a camera frame — and sends it, through our own secure server, to a third-party AI service: Google's Gemini API, which identifies what you drew and scores the round.
What is collected, and how. The only thing collected for this purpose is the drawing image itself, generated from the strokes you make on the in-app canvas. Only the drawing image is transmitted — we do not send your name, email address, contacts, photo library, location, or device identifiers to the AI service.
All uses of that data. Drawings are used solely to generate the AI's guess and its playful verdict inside the game, and — if you choose to use The Forge — to re-render your drawing as artwork. They are never used for advertising, profiling, or building any identity record, and they are processed transiently rather than stored on our servers.
Before any drawing is sent to Google's Gemini API, Kazoo Sketch shows an in-app disclosure that names Google as the recipient, states exactly what is sent, and asks you to agree. You may decline, and nothing is transmitted if you do.
The Forge
If you send a drawing to The Forge, the drawing image is sent — again through our secure server — to Google's Gemini API to be re-rendered as artwork in a chosen style. As above, only the drawing image is transmitted, the same paid-tier terms and equal-protection commitment apply, and the same in-app permission is required before anything is sent. The result comes back and is stored on your own device in My Gallery. The Forge costs an art token — a consumable that never expires, and one you can also earn free by watching a video.
Online Rooms
Rooms are online multiplayer: a host creates a room, shares a five-character code, and up to twelve players join. Rooms run on Firebase Realtime Database. The display name you choose, your score, your connection state and your drawing strokes are shared with the other players in that room so the game can work. Kazoo can be toggled on or off in a Room, and rounds can be played in Shout mode (the drawer taps whoever got it) or Type mode (guesses are scored automatically).
Reported content
Report and Block are available on other players' artwork. Where content is reported to us, we may retain that content so we can review it and act on it.
Advertising
The free tier of Kazoo Sketch shows ads through Google AdMob. This uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and advertising data, and is used for tracking. iOS asks your permission first via App Tracking Transparency; if you decline, you'll still see ads — they'll just be non-personalised. Kazoo Pro removes ads
Analytics and diagnostics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used — which features and screens people reach — so we can improve it, along with crash and performance reporting to keep it stable.
Purchases
The Kazoo Pro auto-renewing subscription removes ads, unlocks all 17 themed decks, and unlocks Pro-only colour palettes; art tokens are a separate consumable purchase. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card details. We only receive confirmation that a purchase went through so we can unlock what you bought.
Information stored on your device
Your settings, your streaks and local scores, and the artwork in My Gallery are stored on your device.
How information is shared
We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the apps:
- Google — Gemini API (third-party AI service) — processes camera frames in Kazoo Charades vs AI, and drawing-canvas snapshots in Kazoo Sketch (including drawings sent to The Forge), to generate the AI's guesses and artwork. Only the image is sent; no name, email, contacts, location or device identifier accompanies it. Google processes it under its paid Gemini API terms, which do not use the data to train Google's models — protection equal to that described in this Policy.
- Google Firebase — anonymous authentication, analytics, crash and performance reporting, and, in Kazoo Sketch, the Realtime Database that powers online Rooms.
- Google AdMob — serves and measures ads on the free tier of both apps.
- Apple — operates the App Store, processes subscription and in-app payments, and provides Game Center for leaderboards in Kazoo Charades vs AI.
- Other players — in Kazoo Sketch Rooms only, and only the display name, score, connection state and drawing strokes described above.
Each partner handles data under its own privacy policy, and we only use partners whose terms give the information the same or equal protection that this Policy describes. In particular, image data sent to Google's Gemini API is covered by Google's paid API terms, under which it is not used to train Google's models and is not used for advertising or profiling. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Advertising and tracking
Both apps show ads through Google AdMob on the free tier. Before any tracking for personalised advertising occurs, the App asks for your permission using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and, where applicable, a consent request. If you decline, you'll still see ads — they'll just be less personalised. You can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and limit ad personalisation in your Google and Apple account settings. Kazoo Pro removes ads
Children's privacy
Both apps are built for a general, family audience. Neither is directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the apps have no accounts and don't ask for personal details, they don't build a personal profile of any user. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll address it.
Data retention
Camera frames in Kazoo Charades vs AI and drawing-canvas snapshots in Kazoo Sketch are processed in real time to produce a guess and are not retained. Room data in Kazoo Sketch exists so the game can run. Content reported to us may be retained so we can review it. Anonymous analytics and diagnostics are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, consistent with our partners' standard retention periods. Data stored on your device — including artwork in My Gallery — remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect information in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your rights and choices
Because neither app maintains user accounts, there's no personal profile for us to look up. You can control Kazoo Charades vs AI's access to your camera and microphone in your device Settings — Kazoo Sketch never requests either. You can manage tracking and ad personalisation as described above, and remove all locally stored data by deleting the App.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Email hello@charadesvsai.com and we'll respond as required by applicable law.
Data deletion & your choices
Both Kazoo apps have no accounts and no login — everyone plays anonymously. The images the AI looks at — front-camera frames in Kazoo Charades vs AI, drawing-canvas snapshots in Kazoo Sketch — are processed in real time to run the game and are never stored on our servers: they're used momentarily and then discarded. Microphone audio in Kazoo Charades vs AI is processed on your device, and Kazoo Sketch uses no microphone at all. That means there is no personal profile on our side to delete.
You still have simple, concrete choices:
- Request deletion anyway. Email ✉ hello@charadesvsai.com and ask us to delete any data associated with your device. We'll action your request within 30 days.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID. On iOS, use Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking to turn tracking off. On Android, go to Settings → Privacy → Ads at any time to reset or delete your advertising ID, and to opt out of personalised ads.
- Remove local data. Uninstalling an app removes all locally stored data — scores, settings, and any artwork in My Gallery — from your device.
Through the Google AdMob ads SDK, the apps may collect an advertising ID, approximate location (from IP address), app-interaction data, and crash diagnostics, used for advertising and analytics. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and we do not sell personal data.
The Android version of Kazoo Charades vs AI is published on Google Play by DubMog. You can also reach us at hello@charadesvsai.com.
International users
We're based in the United States, and our partners may process data in the United States and other countries. By using an App, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and meaningful changes will be reflected here. Continued use of an App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
