Privacy Policy

The short version. Kazoo has no accounts and no sign-up. When the AI is guessing, your front-camera frames are sent for real-time processing and then discarded — never stored, never tied to who you are. Your voice is handled on your device. We use Google services for the AI, analytics, and ads, and Apple handles all payments. We don't sell your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how Octag AI LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in the Kazoo Charades vs AI app (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

No account needed

Kazoo works the moment you open it — there's no login, email, or profile. To secure the App's calls to our AI service, the App signs in anonymously in the background using Firebase Authentication. This creates a random identifier that isn't connected to your name, email, or any real-world identity.

What we collect and why

Camera images

In modes where Kazoo guesses what you're acting out, the App captures still frames from your front-facing camera and sends them — through our secure proxy — to Google's Gemini AI so it can generate guesses in real time. These frames are processed transiently to produce a guess and are not stored by us or used to build any profile. They're used only to make the game work, and only while you're actively playing a camera mode.

Voice and speech

With your permission, the App uses your microphone and speech recognition so you can say "yes," "no," or "close" to guide the AI, and so referee mode can hear guesses. Speech is processed on your device — we don't send your audio to our servers or to the AI service, and we don't keep recordings.

Identifiers

If you consent to tracking (see Advertising below), our advertising partner uses your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant ads and measure them. The App also uses the random, anonymous identifier described above to authenticate requests to our AI service.

Usage and analytics

We and our partners collect limited information about how the App is used — such as which features and screens are used and interactions with ads — to understand performance, improve the App, and support advertising.

Diagnostics

We collect crash logs and performance data (for example, when something fails or runs slowly) to keep the App stable and fix bugs.

Purchases

If you subscribe to Kazoo Pro, Apple processes your payment. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active so we can unlock features, but we don't receive your full payment-card details.

Information stored on your device

Settings such as whether you've finished onboarding and your local high scores are saved on your device and aren't sent to us.

How information is shared

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the App:

Google (Gemini) — processes camera frames to generate the AI's guesses.
Google Firebase — anonymous authentication, analytics, and crash/performance reporting.
Google AdMob — serves and measures ads.
Apple — operates the App Store, processes subscription payments, and provides Game Center for leaderboards.

Each partner handles data under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Advertising and tracking

Kazoo shows ads through Google AdMob. Before any tracking for personalized advertising occurs, the App asks for your permission using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and, where applicable, a consent request. If you decline, you'll still see ads — they'll just be less personalized. You can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and limit ad personalization in your Google and Apple account settings. Kazoo Pro removes ads

Children's privacy

Kazoo is built for a general, family audience and is suitable for all ages. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App has no accounts and doesn't ask for personal details, it doesn't build a personal profile of any user. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll address it.

Data retention

Camera frames are processed in real time and not retained. Anonymous analytics and diagnostics are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, consistent with our partners' standard retention periods. Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect information in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your choices

Because Kazoo doesn't maintain user accounts, there's no personal profile for us to look up. You can control the App's access to your camera and microphone in your device Settings, manage tracking and ad personalization as described above, and remove all locally stored data by deleting the App. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal information — contact us and we'll respond as required by applicable law.

International users

We're based in the United States, and our partners may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and meaningful changes will be reflected here. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
